Harry E. Thompson, 71, of Latrobe, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at his home. He was born July 18, 1946 in Latrobe, a son of the late Charles and Sarah (Kells) Thompson.
Harry was a veteran of the United States Navy and prior to his retirement, he was employed by Standard Steel in Latrobe as an electrician for 29 years. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Latrobe and the Derry Rod and Gun Club. An avid outdoorsman, Harry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He also enjoyed building model trains and loved spending time with his dogs, Cliffy and the late Shiloh.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick H. Thompson (1970) and Scott A. Thompson (2015); and two brothers, Keith Thompson, and Charles Thompson Jr. He is survived by his wife, Elaine J. Thompson; a son, Brett M. Thompson and his wife Amy of Loyalhanna; four grandchildren, Cody Thompson, and Kayla, Emma, and Carly Stemmler; one great grandchild, Olivia; and three siblings, Ron Carnahan (Anna Jean) of New Alexandria, Ella Jane Malik (John) of New Derry, and Gayle Loney of Winnwood, PA.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral, Inc. 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11:00 AM with his pastor, the Rev. Donald W. Graff officiating. Military honors accorded by the Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard will be held after the service in the funeral home chapel. Private interment will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Cook Township.
