Jane Marie Zitterbart, 87, of Latrobe, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in Brookdale at Latrobe after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born January 19, 1931 in Augusta, GA, a daughter of the late Henry and Marie (O’Connor) Giebner.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband Arthur C. Zitterbart, Sr. in 2007. They were married in Augusta, GA in 1954 and immediately moved to Latrobe where they raised their family. They had three children; Arthur C. Jr. who preceded her in death in 2000, Marie Mallin (John) of Las Vegas, NV, and Gerry Zitterbart (Tammy) of Latrobe. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Natalie, Adam, Matthew, and Nicholas, and her daughter-in-law, Dee. Her sister, Catherine Skelly preceded her in death in 1983.
Jane was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish in Latrobe and a former member of the St. Vincent Auxiliary. Prior to her illness, she was an active volunteer at the parish. Her and her family were faithful volunteers at the parish picnic every year. She enjoyed being a stay at home Mom. She baked homemade bread daily using St. Vincent flour from the Gristmill. She would share her bread with family and friends, especially with the Carmelite Nuns who held a special place in her heart. She would attend daily mass at the Carmelite Monastery.
Jane’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Brookdale for the compassionate, loving care given to her in her final years.
Friends will be received from 4 until 7 PM Friday, April 6th in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc. 1500 Ligonier Street, Latrobe. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday, April 7th in St. Vincent Basilica, 300 Fraser Purchase Rd., Latrobe. Everyone please go directly to the basilica. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carmelite Monastery, 5206 Center Dr., Latrobe, PA 15650.
