Carl H. Geary, 89, of Greensburg, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018. He was born December 30, 1928 in River Rouge, Michigan, a son of the late Carl H. and Cecelia (Tepper) Geary.
Carl was raised in Derry where he was a former member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. He was a 1946 graduate of Derry Borough High School and a 1952 graduate of Duffs Business College. Carl then served in the Korean War in Counter Intelligence with the United States Army. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Carl received his Bachelor’s Degree in Design Engineering from Penn State University in 1958.
His career in design engineering began in 1960 with the Boeing Corporation in Seattle Washington where he worked on the Bomarc Missile Project. He then came back to Pennsylvania and worked for the Elliott Company in Jeannette for over 25 years where he authored 38 patents and retired as manager of Development Engineering in 1984. After his retirement, he served as an engineering consultant for the Ebara and Skinner Corporations.
Carl was a member of Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Greensburg and his is favorite pastimes included golfing, hunting, fishing, computer programming, and skiing.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother, John Geary. He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Shirley J. (Heitchue) Geary; his daughter, Lisa Stahl and her husband Terry; three grandchildren: Krysta Roy (Clifford), Terry Stahl Jr., and Jesse Stahl; two sisters-in-law, Jane Geary and Cathy Heitchue; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Honoring Carl’s wishes, services and interment will be private. The Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc., Latrobe, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
