George F. Carter of Unity Township, PA passed away on December 12, 2017, at the age of 86. Born in Hazleton, PA to Marian and Foster Carter. He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He bled blue all his life and had season tickets to Penn State football for nearly 50 years, rarely missing a game. After graduation, he proudly served in the Marine Corps for 3 years. He continued to serve to his county in the reserves until he made Captain. His career began at Alcoa, but he spent the last 20 years working for Minnotte Manufacturing Corporation. George was an active member in his community, volunteering for many organizations including meals-on-wheels, Kiwanis, JAYCEES, Latrobe Hospital, and as a district Boy Scout leader. For many years he enjoyed participating in The Settlers Club and FOF golf club. He also served on the Trinity and Good Shepard Lutheran Church planning committees. For the last 10 years, George and Joyce attended the Middletown United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Joyce Carter, daughter Darcy Mortazavi of Allentown, PA, son-law Dr. Steven Mortazavi, grandson Sam Mortazavi, son Randy Carter of Reno, NV, and daughter-in-law Olivia Carter. A celebration of his life will be held at 2pm on Saturday 16th at The Middletown United Methodist Church,1050 Middletown Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.
