Obituary of Delores Lynch

Delores A. “Dolly” Lynch, 90, of Latrobe, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 11, 1927 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John and Anne (Getzik) Almash.

 

She retired as the Inpatient Mental Health Activities Director from Latrobe Hospital. As an active member of Holy Family Parish: she taught CCD, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of parish council. She was also a member of bishop’s ad hoc committee for implementing Greensburg Diocese parish councils. Dolly was an active member of the Latrobe community, and served as a member of the Latrobe Juvenile Commission.

 

Her passion in life was art and she was an award winning artist.  She was a member and officer of the Latrobe Art Center, and Art League, Southern Allegheny Museum of Art (SAMA) in Ligonier, Greensburg Art Club, and Pittsburgh Watercolor Society.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John R. Almash. She was the beloved wife of her husband of more than 68 years, Bernard J. “Bernie” Lynch. They were married on April 23, 1949 at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Pittsburgh by Father William G. Connare, who later became Bishop of the Diocese of Greensburg. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was always encouraging and supportive to her six children: Bernard J. “Bernie” Lynch (Connie), Kathleen A. “Kate” Hull (Cary), Neil P. Lynch, Kevin J. Lynch, Robert N. “Bob” Lynch, and Sean M. Lynch (Lynn); her seventeen grandchildren who affectionately called her MeeMaw: Sarah Swain, Tara Stempfer, Moira Smith, Juliana Hull, Kaitlin Uebelhor, Neil Lynch II, Jeremy Lynch, Corey Lynch, Darren Lynch, Bernie Lynch, Kali Lynch, Patrick Lynch, Sean Lynch Jr., and Tyler Lynch; her three step grandchildren: Stacey Shank, Ryan Hull, and Derek Hull; and her 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Joyce (Thomas Gillooly) and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2017 in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday in Holy Family Church, 1200 Ligonier St., Latrobe with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney V.F. as celebrant. Everyone please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery.
