Obituary of Nancy Lilian Hazlett

Nancy Lilian Gregory Hazlett, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Latrobe, died on February 2, 2013. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, pianist, organist, bell choir director, and bridge player. Born January 6, 1929 in Latrobe, PA, daughter of the late David Ludlow Gregory and Thelma Charlotte Carnahan Gregory. A graduate of Latrobe High School, 1946 and of Seton Hill College, 1950, B.A. in Music Education and Piano Performance on full scholarship, with organ study under Homer Wickline. Married Donald Glenn Hazlett, August 26, 1950. Resident of Latrobe, PA, Grosse Ile, MI, Bradford, PA and Louisville, KY. Organist at Latrobe Presbyterian Church, St. Michael's in the Valley Episcopal Church, Ligonier, PA, First Methodist Church, Latrobe, PA, Associate Organist at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church, Michigan, and Bell Choir Director at the Grosse Ile, Michigan Presbyterian, Episcopal and Catholic Churches. Member, American Association of University Women. Nancy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald Glenn Hazlett of Louisville, KY, sister Doris Gregory Levisay of Charlottesville, VA, and Nancy's four children (and their spouses): Nancy Deborah Hazlett (David) Rodger, David Gregory (Suzanne) Hazlett, Melissa Jane Hazlett (Rob) Donhoff, of Louisville, KY, and Timothy James (Leslie) Hazlett, of Sarasota, FL, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation in Louisville, Kentucky will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, Louisville, Kentucky. A funeral service and celebration of Nancy's life will be held at Unity Chapel, Unity Township, Latrobe, PA on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., with a family burial service immediately following at Unity Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Nancy Gregory Hazlett Endowed Music Scholarship, Seton Hill University, One Seton Hill Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601.
