Albert C. Lenz, 83, of Ligonier Township passed away on June 25, 2018 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born on December 14, 1934 in Latrobe, a son of the late Howard P. and Ruth (Johnston) Lenz. He married the former Nancy Kathleen Keibler on December 16, 1972. She passed away on January 2, 2011.
Al retired in 1999 with 36 years of service with Timken Latrobe Steel where he was employed as a production planning supervisor. He graduated from Latrobe High School in 1952 and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh. Al was a Naval Aviator who graduated as a Marine Corp Officer. He was stationed at bases throughout the U.S. and saw service in Okinawa, Taiwan, and Japan, and flew off the aircraft carrier USS John Hancock. He was honored to serve his country as a Marine Corps fighter pilot.
Al was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church in Latrobe for over 70 years. Nothing meant more to him than family and his greatest joy came from helping his parents in their later years and from nursing and comforting his beloved Kathie through her illness.
Al is survived by his sister Betty Kay Ikeda of Frisco, TX; five nieces and nephews. David Ikeda of Frisco, TX, Thomas Lenz of Washington, D.C., Donna Eiesland of Rapid City, SD, Richard Lenz of Minneapolis, MN, and Ann Lenz of Old Saybrook, CT. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Howard T. Lenz in October 2011 and his devoted companion (dog) Limerick three weeks ago. To those who believe, be joyful because Al is now with his family and at the side of his love, Kathie.
There will be no public visitation or funeral services. Private interment will be in Unity Cemetery. The Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc. is assisting the family with arrangements.
