Obituary of Patricia Smith

Patricia A. Smith, 84, of Latrobe, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. She was born May 1, 1934 in Saltsburg, a daughter of the late Daniel and Myrtle (Lydick) McDivitt.

Patricia graduated from the Latrobe Hospital School of Nursing and spent over 40 years as a registered nurse at Latrobe Area Hospital. Her extraordinary nursing career encompassed may areas of health care including neonatal, chemotherapy, and many others. She was published in medical journals for research that she had done in neonatal nursing.

She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Latrobe. Some of her favorite pastimes included walking, cross country skiing, and shopping. But her favorite was spending time in the sun at the beach with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings: Hester, Elizabeth, and Daniel. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 63 years, Edward L. Smith, her daughter Lee Ann O’Connor and her husband Kevin of Peachtree City, GA, her son Scott E. Smith and his wife Stephanie of Glen Allen, VA, five grandchildren: Bryan Smith, Katlyn Smith, Katie O’Connor, Megan O’Connor, and Reilly Smith, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc. 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 331 Weldon Street, Latrobe with the Trinity clergy officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 331 Weldon St., Latrobe, PA 15650.
