Virginia B. Zabkar, 91, of Latrobe, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Twin Lakes Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born December 25, 1927 in Latrobe, the daughter of the late George Lawrence and Bessie (Branner) Achhammer.
Virginia was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church. She was an amazing wife and stay at home and loved cooking and caring for her family. She enjoyed bingo, loved her numerous trips to Las Vegas, and was an avid golfer in her younger years. Virginia was very talented at crocheting and made countless beautiful Afghans for her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stephen A. Zabkar; by an infant son, Stephen; her son-in-law, Gregory Peterman; and ten siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Donna J. Peterman of Latrobe, and Sandra L. Sumnicht and her husband George of Madison, WI; her grandchildren; Stephen Peterman (Patti), Michelle Peterman, Jason Thomas Robb (April), and Nathan V. Robb; great grandchildren, Jonathan, James, Charity, Dylan, Patrick, Maddison, and Evan; a great great grandchild, Mason; and her brothers, Paul Achhammer (Marie) and Andrew Achhammer.
Friends will be received Saturday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Association at https://www.alz.org/.
