Dear John & James. You may not remember me, my husband David Devey taught both of you math and science at St. Edmund's Academy in Squirrel Hill. I ran a lunch program 3 days a week with Mrs. Vaskov, John's mother. Your dad was on the board of Directors. He told Mr. Devey that he would like him to be Head of the School when Dr. Izod retired. That was not to because of an incident with Mrs. Izod who fired him, but let him stay until the end of the semester. A miserable time for us.
Mr. Devey went to Pittsburgh Thealogical Seminary the same time as your dad and they became friends. When they were at the Seminary Mr. Devey worked for the East Liberty Presbyterian Church. He left the church to teach at St. Edmunds. I came to Chapel each week to watch you boys march in, and listen to you sing I Sing A Song of the Saints of God.
Mr. Devey and I came from Bethlehem for Fred's Funeral in the morning, and our dear Pastor from East Liberty Dr. Robshaw in the afternoon. That was a very sad day for me. I hope you boys are doing well, I just wanted you to know that Ie think fondly of those days at St. Edmunds and of our friendship with your dad, a very special person. Mr. Devey passed away almost 6 years ago. I still miss him every day.
