John A. Stewart Sr., 75, of Latrobe, was born in Pittsburgh on January 25, 1937 and entered into heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday December 8, 2012.
He was retired from his life's profession as an electrical designer with various companies in Pennsylvania and Ohio. John's friends will remember him as very educated and knowledgeable in many subjects. He was a voracious reader and enjoyed doing crosswords and puzzles in the daily newspapers. He was a very soft spoken man who never had a harsh word for anyone, an avid hunter, and one who liked to share his stories and experiences.
John was a man of great faith and a devoted husband to his wife, Nancy (Primozich) Stewart for 48 years, a loving father to his three children: John A. Stewart Jr. of Latrobe, Jenna Trimble and her husband Donald of Derry, and Juliet Cox of Latrobe, a proud grandfather of Ryleigh and Kaden Stewart and Oksana, Ekaterina, and Donovan Trimble, and his special dog Lily who was always by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Anna (Buck) Stewart, and a brother, William A. Stewart in 1964. He will also be fondly remembered by his brother, Charles Stewart and his wife Nancy of Kittanning, and sisters-in-law Antoinette Trenney of Brenizer and Fran Zurick and her husband John of Latrobe, an aunt Mary Buck , and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Daniel P. Nolan Knights of Columbus Council #940 and the Kingston Veterans and Sportsmen's Club. He was a real handyman. When his children were young and they or their friends broke something, they would say, "That's okay, my dad can fix anything", and he did.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 PM Monday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc., 1500 Ligonier Street in Latrobe.
