John A. Cowan, Sr., 61, of Latrobe, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017. He was born August 19, 1956 in Latrobe, a son of the late Arthur “Dutch” Kuhns and Shirley “Dolly” Cowan Romansky.
John was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and target shooting. He was a member of the Latrobe Sportsmen’s Assoc., a life member of the National Rifle Assoc. and the North American Fishing Club. He also was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America when his sons were involved.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Brian J. “B.J.” Cowan, and his grandmother, Flora Isaacs. A loving father and Pap Pap, he is survived by a son, John A. Cowan, Jr, and his wife Julia, a daughter, Kristen J. Cowan; grandchildren: Zoe, Abigail, Emma, Lily, Blake, Jordynn, and Brooklynn; two sisters, Judith Zlotkowski (Stanley) and Shirley “Chug” Huffman, two brothers, Philip and Daniel, and a nephew, Ken Huffman (Rebecca).
Friends will be received Tuesday from 4 until 7 PM in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Roland Blake officiating. Private interment will be in Unity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
