Obituary of Ervin J. Kitzmiller
Ervin J. Kitzmiller, 85, of Blairsville, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born March 2, 1927 in Mount Storm, WVA, a son of the late Riley Cletus and Lula Myrtle (Aronhalt) Kitzmiller.
Ervin was a 1944 graduate of Blairsville High School and a veteran of World War II having served with the US Army. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the former Allegheny Foundry Co. in Bolivar and served as Union Secretary for the United Steelworkers Local there. He was a life member of the Christ United Church of Christ in Latrobe. Ervin's favorite pastimes included gardening, cutting and burning firewood, hunting, dancing to polkas, and bingo.
In addition to his parents, Ervin was preceded in death by a son, David P. Kitzmiller, a grandson, Jeremy D. Kitzmiller, two brothers, Cecil and Wayne Kitzmiller, and a sister, Dorothy Licht.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Agnes (Myers) Kitzmiller, three sons: Ervin Lee Kitzmiller and his wife Diane of Blairsville, Ronald D. Kitzmiller and his wife Nancy of Cortland, OH, and John Thomas Kitzmiller and his wife Elizabeth of Monroeville, a daughter-in-law, Linda Kitzmiller of Blairsville, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, three brothers: Ernie Kitzmiller (Elizabeth) of Johnstown, Alvin Kitzmiller (Eleanor) of Blairsville, and James Kitzmiller (Elizabeth) of Blacklick, three sisters: Loretta Johns of Johnstown, Pauline Martin of Johnstown, and Evelyn Myers (William) of Hillside, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Friday in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc. 1500 Ligonier Street in Latrobe. Military services accorded by the combined funeral detail of American Legion Post 515 and VFW Post 3414 will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Christ United Church of Christ with his pastor, the Rev. Cindy Parker officiating. Private interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ United Church of Christ 1414 Ligonier St, Latrobe, PA 15650.
